TOWN HALL Tilburg
Plectere Panels enhance the renovated Town Hall of Tilburg
Last summer, after two years of extensive renovations, the transformed town hall and "stadswinkel" of the municipality of Tilburg were officially opened to the public. The renovation aimed to create a modern, sustainable, and functional space while preserving the light and open feel of the building.
To meet the interior design requirements of circularity and detachability—ensuring that all elements remain reusable—architect Common Affairs selected Plectere panels for both visual and acoustic space division. These 30 intricately crafted panels aligned perfectly with the architect's vision, allowing spaces to be divided while maintaining the openness and natural light crucial for a productive office environment.
The addition of Plectere panels made from wool felt also greatly improved the acoustics on the work floor, enhancing the sound experience for employees. At the same time, the soft and textured material added a tactile richness to the office atmosphere, blending functionality with aesthetic warmth.
Beyond the panels, the renovation included new voids, lifts, and stairs that make the building feel light, inviting, and seamlessly connected. These features ensure a dynamic interaction between the office floors and the public hall, fostering openness and accessibility.
Finally, one cannot overlook the captivating play of light and shadow that Plectere panels create, adding a mesmerizing visual dimension to the workspace. These panels are not just functional; they are a true design statement, epitomizing the balance of beauty, sustainability, and innovation.
